Location:

Galibi is situated on the North East coast of Suriname at approximately 1,5 hour from Albina by boat. Each year between February and August on the Galibi nature reserve a particular event occurs. Sea turtles come to lay  their eggs on the beach. This beautiful white beach is called Alusjaka by the indigenous. There is overnight the village previously consisted of two villages Christiaankondre and Langamankondre. Both villages have a captain (village chief) and a Basja (sub chief). This is the largest indigenous (Amer-Indians) village of the Caribbean. In this village you can get acquainted with the indigenous use and you can also take a look at the Christianity Church that completely is created of wood . In the women’s center it is possible to see the finished products and buy the various crafts that will be used. You can buy baskets, chains, costumes and instruments that are all made by hand.

At 6:30 am the guide will pick you up from the lobby and depart to the east of Suriname. Driving time apprx. 2 hours to Ablbina. Before departing to Galibi we make a stop at St. Laurent in French-Guiana. Here u can get some fruits and French pastry. 

During this guided tour led by a knowledgeable naturalists who will introduce you to the local flora and fauna. Keep your eye open for wildlife around you in Galibi and the local area. You also have the opportunity to take a refreshment in the Marowijneriver.

After the boat ride you get to the lodge  for a refreshing drink and your delicious picnic lunch surrounded by the sunny beach. You will have an opportunity to have some rest and enjoy the rest of the remixing time of this natural environment. 

In the evening we will depart to the beach where the sea turtles are laying their eggs. Going at night is the most common way to spot them, because of the tide of the river and Atlantic Ocean.
