Day 1 – Put on jungle clothes and enjoy the view
Arrive well rested at our office in Paramaribo today for an early departure towards the Fredberg. After a brief discussion of the planning and a cup of coffee or tea, it is time to leave. You get in the car towards the unspoiled jungle and it will take about 4 hours along the way, depending on the number of stops. You first arrive at the base camp where you have time to swim and eat.
Put
on your jungle clothes, because it’s time to brave Fredberg. You walk through the pristine jungle for about 3 to 4 hours before you reach the mountain top. It is a tour that can be done by anyone in normal condition. Once you arrive at the top of the mountain, you can enjoy yourself. The view is beautiful and with a kitchen and small sleeping camp (with hammocks) the much needed facilities for a good night are also available. Enjoy the sunset and the starry sky at the top of the mountain before going to sleep in this special place.
Day 2 – Watch the jungle awaken from Fredberg
Jump out of your hammock early today for one of the most beautiful sunrises in Suriname. From above you can see the jungle awakening, as it were, with the sound of howler monkeys and beautiful birds, such as macaws, flying by. The cook will provide you with a good and hearty breakfast, so that you can face this day with enough energy. Today you will explore the jungle even better. Your guide will take you via the other side of the mountain towards the rare orange cock-of-the-rock and who knows, you might spot a lot of monkey species along the way.
After the jungle tour you will return to the base camp, where it is time to relax. An extensive lunch is ready with ice-cold drinks. Tonight you will sleep in a comfortable bed and you will no longer need the hammock. You can fish, sail, and at high tide you can even dive into the water with a real Tarzan swing. In the evening you go out again with a guide to spot the nocturnal animals. The evening is often concluded by discussing all the highlights of the day around the campfire.
Day 3 – Enjoy the base camp for a while
Can’t get enough of the jungle? Then you can go out again with your guide to see even more animals. Do you feel the need to just swim and sunbathe on the last day? Then there is certainly room for this. After lunch it is time to pack your things and drive back to Paramaribo.
