Anaula | 3 days
Day 1
Today we start our nature and culture experience and depart from Paramaribo in a southerly direction. At Paranam the asphalt road turns into a laterite road, and the impressive forest giants and villages gradually emerge. After about 190 km we arrive at the town of Atjoni and then start an exciting canoe trip. We sail approximately 45 minutes by motorized canoe to the comfortable Anaula Nature Resort, located at the foot of the Ferulassi Falls, where you will spend the night. During this cruise we encounter breathtaking nature and various Maroon villages, where waving children and washing women stand along the riverbed. We also pass the turbulent Jaw Jaw rapids. After “checking in” you will have the opportunity to explore the resort, after which lunch will be served buffet-style. After lunch we sail by canoe to a nearby swimming hole, the Ferullasi rapids or to a beautiful sandy beach, where we can relax, swim and enjoy a natural bubble bath. After dinner, information is provided about the area and an explanation about the Saramaccan culture. After this we will embark on an exciting adventure in search of caimans. During this night cruise you can also enjoy the beautiful starry sky and experience the total silence of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 2
After the forest walk you have the opportunity to fish, swim or simply sit in a hammock along the river until lunch and enjoy the natural beauty and beautiful views of the island. After lunch we sail by canoe to the village of Nieuw Aurora for a village walk. During the tour of the village you will get to know the local people and their unique way of life and their traditional customs and customs. We visit the mission post, which includes a church, primary school and a medical post. After dinner, enjoy a cultural dance performance. Traditional dances such as the Seketi, Awasa and Bandamba are performed. The cultural dance evening is only offered with a minimum number of 8 guests.
Day 3
You can spend this morning entirely according to your own needs. You can swim, take a walk in the woods, relax by the pool or in a hammock, or enjoy nature in peace. If you wish, you can also participate in excursions such as a more intensive forest walk or a visit to the agricultural plots of the local residents. After lunch departure to Paramaribo.
