ENJOY ONE of The BEST resorts in boven Suriname river
Menimi is a holiday resort in the Upper Suriname area. From Atjoni it is approximately 1 hour by boat and the resort is located on a piece of land with an area of approximately 10 hectares.
The founder of Menimi is Pije Armand Abauna, better known as Mandje.
Together with his wife and their 8 children, they manage the place and ensure that the guests have a nice stay.
The resort has 11 houses with 2-4 beds in the room.
There is also a group accommodation that can accommodate up to 10 people and hammock accommodation.
The accommodations are all equipped with a bath and toilet, electricity and mosquito nets.
The resort has solar panels, WiFi, and a shop.
On Menimi you can enjoy the water, but there are also activities:
– Forest walk to get acquainted with medicinal plants, various flowers, herbs and animal species.
– Visit one of the rapids (Tapawatra falls) where you can enjoy a massage through the water
– Village walk in one of the nearby villages to get to know the people and culture.
MENIMI | 3 days
Day 1 – By boat and bus
You will leave Paramaribo for Atjoni around 8 am. Stops are made along the way for some snacks and also to use the sanitary facilities. Between 11 and 12 you arrive at Atjoni from where the journey by canoe to the Menimi resort begins. It takes about an hour. When you arrive, a delicious lunch awaits you. After lunch you will check in and have some time for yourself to relax and explore the resort or go for a swim. Dinner is at 7 p.m. and after dinner you can relax at the resort.
Day 2 – Menimi
You will be awakened by the beautiful sounds of nature. Breakfast is served at 8 a.m. and a village walk is planned around 9 a.m. In the afternoon after lunch, a forest walk is on the program, where you will be provided with good information about the flora and fauna along the way. Dinner is at 7 p.m. and after dinner it is time to spot caimans during a night boat ride. For larger groups there is also a fun dance workshop from the local dance group.
Day 3 – Return journey
Breakfast will be ready for you at 8:00 am and you can enjoy the beautiful resort for a while. Check out is at 11:00 am. After lunch you will leave for Atjoni again and the driver will be ready to transport you safely to Paramaribo.
