Paramaribo City Tour
Walk through 400 years of history — where Dutch gables, a wooden cathedral, a synagogue and a mosque all share the same street.
A city built from a trading post
The name Paramaribo is probably derived from Parmurbo, an Indian village where a trading post was established at the start of the 17th century. The English took it over and built Fort Willoughby; in 1667, Abraham Crijsen conquered the area, and from the fort the city grew west. After the abolition of slavery in 1863 and the end of indentured labour in 1873, many more people moved into the city.
Since 2002, Paramaribo's historic centre has held UNESCO World Heritage status, protecting buildings of both historical and religious significance — among them the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, built entirely from wood and the largest wooden building in South America.

EXCELLENT Based on 108 reviews Posted on Google olga zoriaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Easy communication and very accommodating. Ricky created a tour to French Guiana and stopped on the way back to get a few Suriname’s delicacy. So it’s not only a French Guiana tour but also culinary tour ! He also managed to find pink dolphins, sloths and showed me UNESCO sites in ParamariboPosted on Google Tapiero EtmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Google Stefan UditTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ricky, nogmaals hartelijk bedankt!
